Psych your mind — IA and Social Computing Strategy

Advanced Session, presented by Matthew Hodgson.

How can IAs become great architects of social online spaces? Matt’s presentation, “Psych your Mind”, will show you how.

Organisations are quickly realising the impact that social computing is having on their business, particularly as they explore new marketing strategies where the power of information, interaction and collaboration lies with online stakeholders. Information Architects are perfectly placed to help architect both the social- and information-spaces in this brave new world by drawing on elements from social psychology to create awsome information architecture and social computing interaction strategies.

Matthew will look at social computing strategy, implemented as IA through social psychology. In his presentation, Matthew will take participants through his experiences working with CHOICE Magazine and their steps moving from a primarily print-medium business to a new online interaction strategy. Specifically, Matthew will examine information architecture and website design in relation to:

  • Roles and personas in social computing
  • Trust, group membership and ROI
  • Changing the internal culture
  • Elements of interaction design to bind them all together
