Iain Barker

The past 12 months has seen a number of challenges to the perceived wisdom of homepage design. Are the unwritten (and written) rules of homepage design changing? Do long pages rule? Can a homepage be too long?

This presentation discusses a number of recent high-profile home page redesigns and provides insight into the pros and cons of longer pages. The presentation will touch on topics as varied as information scent, satisficing, the impact of new technologies (such as Ajax) and the myth of the fold.
